EVP, Production, Development and Strategy
Jon Sechrist currently serves as EVP, Production, Development & Strategy for MY Entertainment. His career has taken him to top companies such as Disney, Viacom & Discovery Inc. having developed and produced over a 1000 hours of original linear and digital content spanning documentary, news, live, docu-series and scripted.
While at Discovery Inc, Sechrist held several senior roles in his 9-year tenure growing from Executive Producer at TLC to Vice President at Discovery Networks International and to Senior Vice President at the Discovery owned production shingle, Betty. He was a key player in launching the lifestyle brand, TLC globally in 300+ million households/200+ markets/50 languages. His credits include creating the hit “Cake Boss” franchise which spun off 4 additional series as well as “Sister Wives,” “Body Bizarre,” “My Naked Secret,” “NY Ink,” “BBQ Pitmasters,” “Lottery Changed My Life” and “My Little Life”.
Sechrist also worked as a programming executive at ABC/Disney overseeing the Emmy Award winning, “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” driving the lineup to #1 in Women 18-49 demo. He began his career at Viacom, working his way up through the ranks at MTV to be a member of the core creative team launching America’s first LGBT channel, Logo where he specialized in documentary strands and news programming including “Advocate Newsmagazine with Rachel Maddow,” “CBS News on Logo” and the live “Democratic Presidential Forum” with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Sechrist graduated Summa Cum Laude from at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
